Police and Crime Commissioner Candidates for Avon and Somerset Police

Election day: Thursday 6th May 2021 – Every individual exerts an influence in society. Every voter has the opportunity to make a difference.

The role of the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) is to be the voice of local people in policing and to hold the Chief Constable to account. The aim of all PCCs is to ensure the delivery of an effective and efficient police service within their force area. PCCs are responsible for the ‘totality of policing’ (all of policing, not just some parts of it) but it is important that they enable the police service and Chief Constable to operate independently. PCCs will ensure that the police meet the communities needs effectively. They work in partnership with a range of agencies at local and national level to ensure there is a unified approach to preventing and reducing crime.
